Recent Changes in Staff

With the recent changes in staffing here we are facing a culture change that will need to be addressed. As staff evaporates there will be holes in departments that will lead to break downs in communication. I feel that after the smoke clears there will be a need to look at the remaining staff individually and as a whole to see how we need to re-organize. Any thoughts on this?

Do you think we'll have any influence on who goes where after the shake out?

nope. Is it something you'd like to participate in?

Have you all given much thought to what kinds of changes you'd like to see implemented in our processes, procedures, thinking-processes, behaviors, etc.?

Personally, I'd like to see less frequent "update" meetings, and the meetings we do keep ideally will have the appropriate staff invovled, and be of a planning nature, not a reactive nature. Let's dream big, and then scale back. I'd hate to see us scale back without even having the courage to dream first.

While I would normally be pretty pessimistic about this topic, I can tell you have been approached by one member of senior management that allowed me the opportunity for input regarding which of the soon-to-be-abandoned job duties I felt would fit in well with my area. I always felt that DHs should be involved to some degree in the restructure, I just never really believed it would happen.

I also agree with Amy regarding the types of meetings I feel would be most beneficial. I am tired of having to justify my job at every meeting I go to. Does anyone outside of membership really care about the day-to-day invoice schedule or minute details of the monthly renewals? I would much rather spend the time thinking ahead and developing action plans to meet our strategic goals.

Any comments on the Monday Morning Director meetings? I think the reports could be posted on the Intranet and if someone needs info about a department they could go read it. For all of us to sit in there and listen to someone read to us what we have in front of us is very silly in my opinion.

I think everyone can agree hat those Monday morning meetings are a waste of time for the most part. I agree, post the info online and make everyone responsible for going out and reading it. If the info is there and you don't pick it up, it's your fault.

I would like to see those meetings be more of a build-up to the annual goals meeting. We wasted so much time in goals last year giving updates. We should use the Monday morning meetings to get us up to speed for the really big conversations that we don't have enough time to finish at goals because of time constraints.

Some of the exercises we did at goals were great, but they are done and forgotten after that one week. I would like to see us do more of that stuff on a regular basis in the DH meeting.
