Things to Think About

A New Workplace is to be enabled by functioning in a Connected Work Space

· Knowledge development and information sharing become a condition of work
· Knowledge workers have all the information they need to do their jobs
· A “corporate” memory system is in place and established in order to preserve knowledge created in the organization; knowledge does not have to be re-invented
· New technology does not pre-empt a focus on business process;
· Technology enables process; technology does not define work

Alternative Communications

I have ceated this blog as a place to share and post ideas as they pertain to the work culture here at PMA. Although I hope we can sit down together soon and discuss our current culture, lets use this blog in the meantime.

The development of an information infrastructure and policy for our new work culture is essential. This requires an understanding of the "work" staff does on a daily basis, its information communities and domains, and the information needs for each community and domain when networked into an integrated digital environment. I really see us as communities that share resources as opposed to the silo department strucure.

Recent Changes in Staff

With the recent changes in staffing here we are facing a culture change that will need to be addressed. As staff evaporates there will be holes in departments that will lead to break downs in communication. I feel that after the smoke clears there will be a need to look at the remaining staff individually and as a whole to see how we need to re-organize. Any thoughts on this?
